Red face my backpack is full what do I do?

I'm new and have been looking around on the forums but couldn't find out how to get some of the things out of my backpack. I can't continue because I have no more space left to carry anything. Where can I sell things in game? Do I have to run around and find someone to buy it or what. Or where do I store it. I'm playing thru a free trial but I won't be able to continue playing if I don't have anywhere to put anything. I'm trying to get a belt pouch made but I can't store the materials to take to the man to make it. Someone please help. I tried chatting and asking others in game but no luck.
Thank You from a Newbie.

There should be someone in towns with [Merchant] after their name. Sell to them.

Go to an outpost and hold the Alt key while looking around. You should see a character's name in green followed by [Merchant] standing somewhere in town. Sell your unwanted items to this character.

Go to a merchant... Press sell. Either that, or sell them to real players (unlikely what you have is worth the trouble).

You should also look into getting a belt, bags, and runes of holding for the bags to give you more room to hold items. Also look into setting up a Xunlai storage account to hold items off of your character. Also follow other players' advice and sell items to merchants. Many items will say 'salvage item' in their description - these serve no other purpose than to be converted into runes/insignias or salvage materials by use of a salvage kit or elite salvage kit.

i come from a heavy WOW background and just started playing prophecies with a friend over the weekend..so far we like it a lot!

we only have our initial backpack, and the 5 slot belt pouch which we got from a turn-in/collector npc..

how do we get more bags? do we just have to save up and buy them from other players?

is there any type of bank, like in wow? i'm guessing no...

how about a post office/mailbox?

thanks in advance for any answers...i also can't read any of the wiki's someone posted earlier in this thread...they are blocked while at work...it's an amazement i can even get into this website from here

If you are still in presearing (training area for prophecies) then you have to find someone with a charr bag you can equip. otherwise you will have to wait till you go postsearing. You'll know when it happens
Goodluck, Have fun

PS- im at work too. filters block everything from guru and wiki except for these forums

Be sure to take your time on Presearing...do as many quests as you can...preferably be lvl 7-8 before going to the academy...

Also, there is a bank in Guild Wars. But they don't exist in Pre Searing, but you'll be able to get to your bank once you get to post. Also, you can either buy Char r Bags from people in pre searing or just wait until post searing and you'll be able to buy bags and runes of holding (they double the size of your bags, but only once) from merchants. There is no difference between regular bags and Charr bags except for the name and perhaps the inventory icon.

There is no mail/post office/etc feature in Guild Wars though. However, your storage is account wide, so if you make a new character and get him to post, he'll have access to the same stuff that's in your other character's storage.

one othere thing, sometimes you will get a weapon or item from completing a mission that you cannot sell, and may be worthless to you. Just left click and drag the item to the trash bin to the right of your backpack, or drag to the ground in an explorable area and you will drop the item.

Arrrgh! I hate inventory control. I'm leaving a trail of things behind me as I go now as well as selling things left and right. I keep picking up quest times for quest that I don't have yet and by the time that I get to where I have to go to get a quest I'm dropping more stuff.

In addition I'm currently trying to find all of the collectors that have armor for me so I'm carrying that stuff around.

Eh. It happens. You'll learn what to hold on to and what to sell eventually though.
